1. Here is the first
step into this painting where I stopped to document It's progress. At
this point I've been painting an hour. At this stage I'm using acrylic
and trying to accomplish a general likeness early on. I'm not paying much
attention to detail and the image is very loose.
|
4. Now were getting
some details in the mane and also some subtleties in Jesus' face. Went
too far with cool lights in the lions mane and will have to correct this.
Also put in some opacities in the lion shoulder that I intend to glaze
with darks.
|
2. Now I've decided
to include Christ's face. Notice there are a few more soft darks in the
lions mane around It's head and much more mane under Christ's face. At
this point I realize Jesus is much too prominent and will glaze transparencies
to hide Him.
|
5. Really
taking shape now. Did some serious work on Jesus' face along with solidifying
the background. Had to put a crown of thorns on Jesus so the average person
will recognize Him. Something Spiritual about that. Softened and rounded
the shoulder and brought out the mane with some white highlights.
|
3. I've taken a big
step toward my intention to hide the face of Jesus so you won't see Him
right away. Probably went too far with the darks but It Is my process
to adhere to transparent darks and opaque lights. I will bring out the
face slowly now. Notice more oranges in the lions mane and face.
|
6. More white highlights
and some wispy hairs and some darker details just about have me finished.
Hope I'm being spirit led cause I added a rainbow, don't ask me to explain,
It just feels right.
