I'm
showing both of these paintings on the same page because of the connection
they have. First they were painted as a commission for the same
customer. And secondly they are of the same farm. What I wanted
to bring out is the process for those of you that paint. The original
job was to paint the farm including two homesites. It is of course
a beautiful horse farm and I put a mare and foal in the foreground.
There were foals on the farm but I was not able to get good pictures and
so these weren't his horses. After I delivered the painting the
owner came up with the idea that he would like to have his stallion painted
into the background for an ad he was to run. Have you ever had to
paint the same thing twice? It can be a challenge. That is
what made this commission unique. You will notice that the stallion
painting is cropped tighter and the background is a little different but
overall it is a smaller duplicate of the first. Both paintings are
in oil, and are as accurate concerning the landscape as I could make.
The original painting is very large and the second is much smaller.
I do like to paint horses. Would I do it again? Yep, for money! |
