This painting is a portrait of a friend who plays Christ in the passion play in the smokies. He was leading a young boy when the photo I used was taken. In the end I made a few compositional changes I felt better suited the painting, but the photo itself was inspiring. Sometimes you will come upon a situation that works for the photo but seems akward in a painting. It is up to the artist to offer up an interpretation rather than a copy of a photo. I must say I am pleased with the painting, it has a good feeling to me. |
